Exterior Stair Rebuild

Initially we were called out to this job to replace a few rotten deck boards and risers. As we started uncovering boards, we found more rot than what could initially be seen by the homeowner. We noticed three out of four of the existing structural posts had severe rot. When we dug down to the base of the posts we discovered the concrete footings that the posts sit on were not constructed correctly, and could not be re-used. From there we knew that this set of stairs and landing had to be completely re-built from the ground up. The only original pieces that survived were the two middle posts on the first set of stairs. After busting up and removing the old footings, we poured new footings and added concrete piers to keep the posts above ground and away from ground moisture to extend their lifespan. We then made new stringers, installed deck boards and risers, and constructed all new handrail to wrap up this project.
